Unboxing & Review: Ambrane 4000maH P401 Power Bank

Over the last 2 years, our gadgets are becoming smaller and smaller so that people can easily carry them in their pockets. Carrying extra power on the go is "In" now.

Whether you like it or not, Android and Apple are the worst on battery consumption. The best phones have weaker battery and the low end phones do not sport excitement. Phones, tablets, digital cameras are all the same, running a Li-Ion battery. Well, not to worry. Pay up some more and get a good deal online for a power bank. These handy devices provide on-the-go charging capability to extend the life of devices well beyond the initial charge.

One such device is the Ambrane P401 Power Bank that hosts a massive 4000maH capacity. You can get this for around Rs.800/-, if you buy online.

Features in Brief:

  • It is a lightweight and a compact power charger
  • Best for anything that can charge via USB
  • Has a small LED torch light for emergency
  • Package Includes 3 connectors - Good for travel
  • 4000mAh capability, powerful with long operation time

Here's the Unboxing and Review:

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

The packaging looks good and smart. Not at all bulky and very portable indeed. The black packaging looks premium with glossy golden borders.

CLOSER LOOK

The packaging is good to the eye but taking a closer look shocked me. The seal on the bottom was intact and secure. However, there was absolutely nothing on top. No seal, no marks of tampering, not even seal glue. And it was open.

IN THE BOX

With the box, you get the Power Bank, USB cable, Warranty card, 3 connectors for different devices. These are concise and neatly kept in the place holder meant for them.

HANDS ON

I have tried the connectors with Samsung Note 2, Samsung Grand, Sony Xperia S, Sony Xperia J and Nokia N73. They work just fine. There was a funny thing about this power bank though but more on that, later. It is just 110 gms and with a dimension of 93 x 43 x 23 mm. It has a lithium ion with DC 5V 1000mA output.

Now, there were a lot of scratches on the front black panel of the power bank. However, with an online portal, I couldn't expect any less. The device I got already had 75% charge on it and there are LED lights to indicate the power available. All you have to do is attach the cable and push the power button once. The best part is that the device has a LED torch on it but there is no mention of it anywhere. Not on the package, not even in the manual.

 LASTLY - THE MANUAL

The Manual remains funny by itself. After going through the manual, I was laughing for a lifetime on checking the last page. Ambrane has given us a "warMing". But, that is just in good humour. The product is good and I hope I don't find any issues in the time to come.

I personally liked the product and have been using for 2 months now.

  2. Hi IceStar. Given that the concept is burgeoning, there is excitement around it. But ideally, power banks should be light on use for now. Brands have just jumped in the field but the products are not suitable for long time use. Also, the more strong the pull for power from the bank, more are the chances for failure or burst. A mobile or tablet drawing power is much much lower than what a laptop would draw, giving more safety.

Imagine, you are in the middle of nowhere and want check your GPS location, or have to make emergency calls and your phone battery decides to die on you. Just relax because that somebody must have already thought about your safety and convenience to have gifted this amazing innovation. Just charge your phone with the Maxx bank and have a drink!
    Cheers!

  6. I was traveling with 4 power bank each 16800mAh, From Heathrow airport terminal 5 to LAX (Los Angles). Two of them where in hand carry and two checkin luggage. They asked to take them out from my checkin luggage it was deadly task to do. I had move my luggage and search for them in checkin luggage. They examine all the 4 power banks and Told me I can only carry two of them, in Hand Carry, I am not allowed keep any of them in Checkin Luggage. Luckly I had friend traveling with me I gave him two and kept two with me in our Hand Carry we where taking AA to LAX. We where traveling from India and I bought those power bank from latest one Now a days Carrying Power bank is real tough job. I Normaly I carry Power bank, Bluetooth speaker, both has Lithium battery. I think they are strict now because in recent past cases like Malaysian airline Mh370 and other airlines crashed may be becuase of fire and fire is highly possible with litthium batteries.
