Samsung, Apple are Top Consumers of Semiconductor Market 2013

According to Gartner's latest global research report, Samsung and Apple, together have Consumed 17% of Total Semiconductor Demand in 2013. This makes them the highest consumer in the calendar year 2013.

Samsung Electronics and Apple together consumed $53.7 billion of semiconductors in 2013, an increase of $7.7 billion from 2012

Pointers to note from the research:
  • Samsung Electronics and Apple together consumed $53.7 billion of semiconductors in 2013, an increase of $7.7 billion from 2012
  • Top 10 companies bought $114.0 billion of semiconductors, to account for 36 per cent of semiconductor vendors' worldwide revenue in 2013
  • Lenovo climbed to No. 4 in 2013 due to its market share growth in the PC market as well as the great success in the Chinese smartphone market

Just so you know, the world-wide PC shipments fell 10% last year, research firms Gartner Inc. and IDC said Thursday, the worst-ever sales slump for the industry. Both companies have been tracking personal computer sales since the 1980s.
