Samsung Galaxy S5 Seems Promising for India

We Indians need value and value I see in the Samsung Galaxy S5. After weeks of anticipation, the smartphone giant uncovered its latest device at the Mobile World Congress 2014 in Barcelona, Spain. This gadget has a dotted plastic back cover and seems to be packed with features (hopefully with less bloat-ware). Samsung didn't reveal the price but the Korean manufacturer would be announcing it in 150 countries, starting from April 11, 2014. Here's what's to look for in this model.

Hot n New Features:
  • It features a 5.1-inch (13cms) Super AMOLED display with a 1080x1920 pixel full-HD resolution
  • 2.5GHz Quad Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor (World's first)
  • 2GB RAM
  • Android 4.4.2 KitKat
  • 16MP rear camera capable of shooting 4K video and with the fastest auto focus in 0.3 secs
  • Heart rate sensor placed near the camera
  • Fingerprint scanner on the home button
  • Bluetooth 4.0, USB3.0, NFC, and Infrared remote functionality
  • 145 grams (slightly heavier than the Galaxy S4)
  • It is IP67 certified that makes it dust and water-resistant
  • Comes with the updated Samsung KNOX security software to keep the user's data safe
  • Removable 2800 mAh battery
  • Inbuilt 16GB & 32GB variants WITH an expansion card slot
  • NO FM Radio
  • Speakers at the back and could be blocked when kept with the screen upwards

Samsung is going to be a good competition for the over hyped iPhone 5S & 5C with better features and better value for money. According to Gartner, Samsung's smartphones had a worldwide market share of 31 per cent last year, compared with 16 per cent for Apple's iPhones. Flipkart.com is currently selling Samsung S4 for about Rs. 30,000 and the S5 would be in league with the Note 3 in the 45,000 to 50,000 price bracket.

More innovation to be uncovered at the MWC 2014. Stay Tuned!
